Farmers’ Market

Every Satuarday morning there is a Farmers’ Market in Temple Bar situated in Dublin City Centre.  We often took a walk to the market and we would pick up some wonderful produce.   My favourite being chocolate hazelnuts and DH’s were freshly stuffed olives.   Below are photos taken at the market one Saturday while I was pregnant with Stefanie.

Here is the first home we lived in Dublin.  It was a terraced property with had 2 bedrooms upstairs.  These terraces houses used to be council owned homes and were mostly likely over 100 years old.   The accommodation downstairs included a small cloakroom at the front door leading into the lounge which followed into the kitchen.  The bathroom was attached to the kitchen (just a shower and toilet).  There is a tiny outside area from the kitchen door where DH hung flowering hanging baskets during the summer to brighten up the area.   The front door opened right out onto the pavement.

We lived here for exactly 1 year.  This is the first home to which Stefanie was brought home after she was born.  The locality was perfect as we did not have a car.  We were a 10-15 minute walk out of Dublin city centre and there were bus stops at the end of the road.

Dublin, Ireland April 2004 – September 2007

Here are a selection of photos from Dublin city which I took within the first few months of living in Dublin.
During the first few months of living overseas I battled to get used to how grey everything looked in the city as well as in some residential areas.  I kept looking for the green Ireland that everyone had told me about or I had seen photos or movies.   The ‘picture’ of a green Ireland which I was looking at finding is mainly seen in rural country areas.  Ireland has a totally different kind of beauty and charm to what I was used to in Cape Town.  I was definatly spoilt for choice growing up in the magesestically beautiful Cape Town.   But funnily enough since leaving Ireland, I now miss all the Irish beauty even the dull and grey buildings and skies.

Our Wedding – 14 December 2002

In a couple of weeks time I will have been married to my DH for 6 wonderful years.

There are only a few photos which I have of that wonderful day marking the start of a great marriage to a fantastic man.  Sadly our Wedding photo album along with the negatives (no digital camera – pity) has been lost.  We left it in the safe keeping of a family member who now has no memory of it.  These photos were what I scanned soon after the wedding so they will have to suffice.  I live in hope that the album will surface at some stage.
